Smart LEDs - Firstsight Vision

Smart LEDs

Firstsight Vision

The Stemmer Imaging Group has been appointed by VCubed as the European distribution channel for its entire range of intelligent light sources. Firstsight Vision, part of the Stemmer group, will be selling the components in the UK.

These high intensity light sources can be used in a host of industrial vision applications, and as well as the standard product range, customized versions can be built for special applications.

The comprehensive range of area, linear, strobe and ultra high output LED light sources feature intensity and thermal management to ensure efficient, reliable and consistent operation and fast warm up time. All the control electronics are integrated into the unit so no external controllers are required. Powerful on-board intelligence includes detailed diagnostic feedback, detection of LED device failure and advanced strobe timing control, with remote control of all operations and settings available via Ethernet, Serial or USB interfaces.

High-intensity light sources can be used in a wide variety of manufacturing processes, including web inspection, glass and metal sheet, road surfaces, railway tracks and PCBs.

LightScope - Moritex

LightScope

Moritex

Moritex has introduced a range of four battery handle light sources for industrial endoscopes to suit different applications and budgets.

The range now includes a simple, low cost Maglite-style handle, halogen and xenon lamp handles as well as a high performance LED handle for the most demanding applications. An adapter is available for the LED handle enabling it to additionally be used as a torch.

Moritex also provides the LightScope industrial endoscopes. Easy to use and cost-effective, the LightScopes are suitable for remote viewing and limited access inspection applications including machinery repairs as well as aircraft, automotive and diesel engine inspections.

The endoscopes are available with rigid or flexible probes, and include integral battery-powered illumination. They are equipped with high quality optics to ensure distortion-free viewing with true colour reproduction. The focus range is adjustable from 10mm to infinity.

With c/mount compatibility all LightScopes may be interfaced to mobile video or digital recording systems. Rotational side view adapters are provided with the probes. The endoscopes are waterproof and constructed of stainless steel and inert industrial grade polymers to ensure long operational lifetime.

LED Spot Projectors -StockerYale

LED Spot Projectors

StockerYale

StockerYale’s LED Spot Projectors are high-intensity LED spotlights that are designed to replace conventional halogen point-sources as well as fibre optic illumination solutions. Compact and lightweight in design, these illuminators offer long lifetimes and low power consumption when compared to traditional light sources.

Available in a wide range of wavelengths including red, blue, green, amber, and broadband white, the LED Spot Projectors provide light at divergence angles of 10 or 25 degrees. The optional fibre-coupled configurations enable users to bring light to the desired target using industry standard fibre components. These products offer the high-intensity illumination required in many machine vision, microscopy, and biomedical applications.

LDR2/SQR - Firstsight Vision

LDR2/SQR

Firstsight Vision

Firstsight Vision offers a comprehensive range of LED illumination sources at competitive prices to industrial and scientific OEMs, system Integrators and resellers. This includes the range of LED sources from CCS.

The LDR2/SQR series of LEDs from CCS have a high intensity light output creating crisp vivid images with a choice of heat dissipation characteristics and cost. With favourable exchange rates and lower cost options, there has never been a better time to buy this premium LED brand.

The LDR2 series features high-density LED arrays arranged in an umbrella configuration, creating an extremely bright concentration of light at the centre of the illumination area. They use a special heat dissipating enclosure for harsh environments and heat sensitive applications. This prevents the heat from building up in the LEDs and increases both the life expectancy and the uniformity of the unit.

The SQR is a compact low-cost version of the popular LDR2 series, ideally suited to applications where heat dissipation is less critical. The LEDs are mounted perpendicularly on a flat base for high performance.

Lasiris SNF -StockerYale

Lasiris SNF

StockerYale

StockerYale has unveiled the new 660nm, 100 mW option for the Lasiris SNF Laser. The laser, widely known for its versatility in machine vision applications, now operates at powers of up to 100mW at 660nm with an automatic power control (APC) circuit. This compact laser uses a laser diode drive circuit that is based on a photodiode feedback loop that maintains output power stability over long periods of time and during possible temperature fluctuations. The availability of this new 100mW power option provides machine vision users with a higher power alternative for their specialised high speed inspection, positioning and mapping applications.

Lasiris -StockerYale

Lasiris

StockerYale

StockerYale’s Lasiris laser line generators are able to project from three to 99 parallel lines with a high degree of uniformity across the lines. Multi-line patterns are compatible with all Lasiris lasers that emit from 375 to 1550nm. The line lasers are focusable and offer a wide range of fan angles and inter-beam angles. Micro multi-line patterns are also available. Applications include machine vision, high-speed inspection, 3D contour mapping, and biomedical.

Labsphere Spectralon and Spectraflect

Labsphere Spectralon and Spectraflect

Labsphere

With 96 to 98 per cent reflectance, Labsphere’s Spectralon and Spectraflect provide a high level of uniform light integration for maximum efficiency in light collection tubes and light guides used in medical imaging equipment.

The near-Lambertian properties of Spectralon and Spectraflect deliver a uniform dispersion of light that integrates light and reduces hotspots better than other materials in coated cavity applications. A high reflectance over a broad spectral range of 250 to 2500nm increases optical efficiency.

With increased efficiency, less light input is required for performance, lowering energy and design costs. Since light collection and reflectance are not dependent on the geometry of light input, design flexibility is increased. Inert, thermally stable and UV-resistant, Labsphere’s materials ensure consistent optical stability and long term performance reliability.

ColdVision MaVi-S - Schott

ColdVision MaVi-S

Schott

Schott has introduced a new addition to its ColdVision family of products, the MaVi-S, a machine vision strobe light source for use in industrial image processing. Combined with fibre optics and user supplied cameras, the MaVi-S is designed to be used in machine vision applications where very brief, intense light pulses are needed to create bright, high contrast images.

The MaVi-S features a xenon bulb and is easily operated with touch pad control. The unit can be used in conjunction with Schott ColdVision fibre optics. With its lock-down input, it also accepts a variety of fibre ferrules sizes.

For optimal control, the MaVi-S is designed with a touch pad with a variable trigger, intensity, frequency and burst controls. The unit can also be remotely controlled through an RS-232 interface.

In addition, the Schott LLS, a small footprint LED based light source for fibre optic based illumination, is available. It offers a long lifetime of 50,000 hours, and therefore requires less scheduled maintenance than non-LED fibre optic light sources. The LLS is available in a variety of wavelength bands including red, white, amber, green, blue and UV.

The LLS features an external triggered strobe mode with a maximum 1KHz pulse rate, maximum pulse width of 1m/sec, and a duty of 1/10. The unit also possesses a non-volatile memory for storing operating parameters, which allows it to automatically restore operating conditions on power up.
