I have a really great digital camera, and I rarely think about using anything else. However, I have found that there are times when I needed to use something else, and finding disposable cameras have helped me when that is the case.
It is not always a good idea to take your expensive digital or film camera wherever you go. That is when the disposable version is a great idea. Even if you have not run into this yet, you may think more about it in the future depending on where you are going and what you will be doing.
Though you will not get the same quality out of disposable cameras that you would get out of your five hundred dollar digital, you are going to find times when you dont want to take the chance. You may be surprised to find that the disposable camera can give you a pretty good picture, even if not quite up to par with what you are used to getting. These snapshots are going to do the job however, and are great when any type of water may be involved in your outing. Whether you are going to the lake, or are going out on a day that may include rain, try the disposable.
You may also want to use disposable cameras when you are going to a huge event. If you have a small digital, you may have better luck protecting your camera, but those that are larger can be targets for thieves. Even when you have your digital around your neck, it is in danger of being taken from you. When going to concerts where there is going to be low light, or huge outdoor festivals, you should think about taking disposable cameras with you. If they are lost, you are not out a lot of money, and the only thing you lose are the pictures.
Disposable cameras are also great when you are introducing your children to photography. I dont know about you, but I have a hard time handing my expensive digital over to a child who is only three or four years old. They may be very good with them, but you will find yourself hovering over them. Instead, get them something that they can run wild with, even when they are outdoors. They can experiment without you standing right over them, and you wont have many worries about what happens if they drop it or even lose it.
