Studies in Machine Vision at MIT and TX-O Computer

The Eye of a Robot: Studies in Machine Vision at MIT and TX-O Computer (1959)

The first of two films shown here, Eye of a Robot (to 18:30) summarizes computer vision research being carried out in the 1950s at the MIT Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence, under the direction of Marvin Minsky and with Patrick Winston and Berthold Horn supervising the robotics work. The film shows how "experimental computer programs extract line drawings from pictures and use knowledge about the three-dimensional world, and also how new ideas about artificial intelligence are used in these processes." The second film is silent and shows the TX-O computer at work, e.g on a tic-tac-toe game. Courtesy of MIT Museum. View more MIT150 videos at Multimedia.

3D Machine Vision is here!!

In numerous machine-vision applications, solo or multiple cameras are used to capture two-dimensional (2-D) views of objects that are then analyzed for possible defects. Although analyzing these 2-D views is useful, many applications such as robotic pick-and-place systems require stereo images to perform this task. In other applications, such as surface analysis, it may be necessary to create a 3-D profile of an object to visualize any 3-D deformity that may be present.
Today, various methods exist to perform 3-D imaging. Perhaps the most popular of these are stereo-based vision methods that can use one or more cameras to extract information about the relative position of objects within a field of view. In this manner, depth information can be used, for example, to allow vision-guided robots to effectively pick and place objects located randomly within a bin. The data can also be used to reconstruct a 3-D model of the part for distance, angle, and area measurement.

Some of the things you can expect to see better

Stereo and more
Increased accuracy
Structured lighting

European vision market was forecast to grow 5%

The European vision market was forecast to grow 5% in 2010 but the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) has recently announced that growth was nearer 35%. In addition, the European Machine Vision Industry Report 2011, published by the EMVA, predicts further growth of 20% in 2011. This has been fuelled by the accessibility of vision and imaging technologies, easy to use of software and the flexibility of interfaces and camera technology.

A major contributor to this trend is the increasing demand placed on industry to be more cost efficient and to reduce defects, improve quality control and to eliminate human error through the use of automation.

Automation is having a significant influence on the industrial vision market as the manufacturing sector strives to ensure competitiveness in response to the threats posed by lower labour costs in other parts of the world. Industry has also been able to benefit from technology advances, developed for the demanding security and defence sectors, which have been driving improved performance and reducing system prices. Vision is also expanding outside its natural home of industrial production and is moving into areas such as agriculture, security, surveillance, logistics, life science, medical technology, retail, sports and many other walks of life. It would seem that this trend is no ‘flash in the pan’. Another report, ‘Global Machine Vision and Vision Guided Robotics Market (2010-2015)’ published recently by US based Marketsandmarkets predicts significant growth for the machine vision and related components market throughout the world during this period.

    Alarm Systems Offer House Safety

    By Nicholas Halmond

Home security systems come in different varieties. They can be electric or battery-powered, wired or wireless, indoor or outdoor. They may come with extra features that you might find useful. No matter what kind of home you live in, there are burglar alarm systems that can work for you.

The hub of an alarm system is the security control panel. With a simple pass code (just a short series of numbers) and a few button presses, you can activate and deactivate the alarm system. Sensors placed on your doors and windows will tell you when they have been opened and, if the system is on, active the alarm.

A security system allows you to activate certain sensors and deactivate others. If you want to open a window on a hot day, all you need to do is use the control panel to deactivate the sensor for that window. Then when you open the window, you will not set off the alarm. The process requires only that you remember simple button sequences.

Burglar alarm systems often come with motion sensors. Unlike the sensors that are attached to doors and windows to detect when they have been opened, motion sensors detect movement within an area. Some systems also involve the use of video surveillance linked directly to your television. This is more expensive than a standard alarm system, but it gives you the added benefit of being able to see the intruders and can be a valuable tool in case a burglary actually happens.

Wired security systems use your home's electricity to remain active. If your area suffers frequent power shortages, your home will be vulnerable during these periods of no electricity. Battery-powered systems do not have that disadvantage. Since they use batteries, they will always be running as long as they have enough battery power. However, you must check the power supply regularly. If the system's batteries are empty, it will be useless. Which type of system is more effective really depends on your specific needs.

If you move from house to house a lot, a portable alarm system might be more useful for you. Portable alarm systems are battery-powered and easier to install. If you tend not to live in one place for a long period of time, you would benefit more from a portable system than a wired system.

Some security systems cover outdoor security as well. These systems use motion detectors and floodlights. When the detectors sense movement around your home, they will activate the floodlights to scare off any potential intruders. Older systems can be activated by small animals, but newer ones ignore anything below a certain size, so false alarms are less common.

Burglar alarm systems deter home invasion. Insurance may reimburse your losses in case of a burglary, but a security system can prevent the crime from ever occurring. Most systems are easy to install and take only a few hours. You can install them yourself or have a professional do it. Alarm systems are effective, and you can relax knowing that if someone does try to enter your home uninvited, you will be alerted immediately.

Tips For Choosing A Digital Camera Lens

    By Ken Dragki

When there is a shorter focal length, the field of view becomes wider, providing more scenes for your camera to capture. When you increase the focal length, the actual field of view becomes narrower.

When shopping for a Digital SLR Camera people often overlook or skimp on the camera's lenses. Camera Lenses serve as the digital SLR cameras "eye," the lens determines what and how your camera will see your subject and how well that view is transmitted to the camera's sensor chip for recording.

If you get the "fixed-length lens", there is a tendency that you will be required to move around when getting your shot. Of course, over a certain time, this will already help you make better compositions. Prime lenses also possess a wider type of maximum aperture, making it easier to get sharper shots, especially under low lighting.

Macro Lenses are give you detail as they enable you to get up close and personal with your subject. These types of lenses are used for extreme close ups on small objects like daisies, pennies, and food but not limited to these types of subjects. Examples of macro lenses are 50mm and 100mm macros. These lenses are also great for selective focus types of photos.

One problem with wide-angle lenses is known as convergence, a distortion that makes vertical structures appear to lean toward the center of the frame. A way to check if the wide-angle lenses you are interested in has convergence is to take test pictures before buying the lens. With high quality wide angles lenses like Canon L series lenses address this convergence issue well. Examples of wide-angle lenses are 15MM, 17mm, 24mm and 28mm lenses.

Zoom lenses can give you flexibility and versatility all in one lenses. When buying a zoom lens try and get one that is made of glass and is the fastest you can afford, you will not regret it. Prime Lens should possess a longer type of zoom lens or a lone focal length between 35mm up to 85mm.

A Quality Hunting Binocular Is Shock Resistant

    By Ken Dragki

Hunting binoculars are often used over rugged terrain where it can be dropped or bumped against a rock or a tree. Look for hunting binoculars that are designated as shock resistant or offer rubberized exterior armoring to help provide physical protection. Also, be aware that significant banging, dropping, or jars can cause damage to the binoculars interior alignment and can weaken the waterproof/fog proof features of the binocular.

A solidly constructed binoculars case provides protection when the binoculars are not in use. And attached lens covers prevent wasted time looking for loose covers. Better class hunting binoculars normally have some shock resistant capability and include (with the purchase) a carrying case and a binoculars neck strap.

Solidly constructed binoculars case provides protection when the binoculars are not in use. And attached lens covers prevent wasted time looking for loose covers. Better class hunting binoculars normally have some shock resistant capability and include (with the purchase) a carrying case and a binoculars neck strap.

While often considered minor at first, binocular neck straps or a body harness can become more important as the day goes on. The neck strap can secure your binoculars closely to your body to prevent it from banging around, while the body harness helps to ease the weight of the binoculars.

Night vision is another very important feature on hunting binoculars. They work by using electronics in the optics to create a phosphorous image of your target. You can adjust the resulting display. Birding binoculars also use large lenses, to allow more light to enter. This means the resulting image is of greater quality. Try to check out the online retailer who specializes in the type of binoculars you would prefer. This means you can access the best information about the viewing optics most suitable for the big or small game hunting you plan to do.

The rangefinder works by using a laser beam, which is emitted to the target and sent back to the binoculars. There is a chip built into the binoculars, which calculates and displays the exact range. This is great for hunters who do not have a scope but need to know the distance immediately. A few seconds can make all the difference when it comes to hunting, as any keen hunter will know.

Which Lens Is Right For Your Digital Camera

    By Ken Dragki

With image stabilization, a photographer is able to handhold two f-stops much more quickly, as compared to other lenses that do not have this particular feature. This is a very good advantage for Canon EF 75-300 users since it is very costly to have to purchase a new lens that has a two-stop quick aperture.

The first thing to consider when choosing your new lens is the focal length you want. The focal length is given in millimeters, and specifies whether the lens is a wide angle or telephoto. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

With a telephoto you'll naturally get closer to subjects far away. Telephoto lenses are also preferred for portraiture as it protects the facial proportions better than a wide angle, and it is much easier to get a blurred background since telephoto lenses have less depth of field than wide angle.

Wide-angle on the other hand is fine for nature photography when you can capture more of the landscape. They're usually good both in brightness and depth of field, and are usually physically smaller and lighter than telephoto lenses.

Wide-angle on the other hand is fine for nature photography when you can capture more of the landscape. They're usually good both in brightness and depth of field, and are usually physically smaller and lighter than telephoto lenses. If you want this translated into compact camera language, you can just divide the largest number by the smallest, which in the 18-55 mm case gives a zoom of about 3x.

The best asset that digital lenses bring with them is the clarity and quality of images produced. Since natural photography mostly involves talking pictures at all times of the day, digital lenses prove very effective during odd timings. Some digital lenses like the Canon Wide Angle Lens ensure that the photographer gets a wide shot and does so even standing at a considerable distance. The shot is made to look very natural and no sign of blur can be spotted on the final layout.

Digital Camera - Find Out Durability Of The Battery

    By Ken Dragki

The use of a memory card is dependent on the users camera type, the memory card can be re-used, once saving the required photographs on the computer, or copying them on a CDs etc. The most commonly used card in digital cameras is the 16 MB cards, and most of the digital cameras make use of removable storage memory for the purpose of recording images. Many other features in the cameras can impact the quality of the images they produce, and may be far more important for the typical user to consider than the maximum overall size of each image.

The most important accessory of a digital camera is the memory card. It is used to store the pictures taken on digital cameras. The memory card in the digital camera can be equated with hard disks in computers. The memory card varies in capacity and the additional memory cards are generally either 128 MB or 265 MB. Memory Stick, Compact Flash and Smart Media, etc. are all different type of memory cards.

There are two types of sensors that may be found in cameras: CCD (Charged Couple Device) and CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor). CMOS sensors are usually found in cheaper cameras and offer lower image quality than a CCD sensor that would probably be found in a more expensive camera.

Most digital cameras offer some sort of zoom, but it is important to identify which type is being provided. Optical zoom functions just as on a film camera, where the lens physically moves to produce the magnification. Digital zoom uses circuitry to enlarge a portion of the standard sized image and crops the content outside of the zoomed area. The quality of images produced using digital zoom suffer due to the nature of the process, and optical zoom is a far more desirable feature.

An array of digital cameras in different brands, models, shapes, sizes, resolution and performance are available in the market. One digital camera can be best selling for its one unique feature, while some other digital camera may have another great feature that makes it special. There are different sets of criterias, on the basis of which the critics, review writers and most importantly the users determine them to be the best sellers.

Always define the purpose of your purchase clearly in your mind before you go out to hunt for your digital camera. You must also know well the restrictions of your budget, if any. And now must go out and look for the best selling cameras and compare their features with your specifications.

Waterproof Binoculars Cost More, But Are Worth It

    By Ken Dragki

Regular binoculars just aren't made to stand up to the sea spray and harsh conditions found on the ocean. At sea it is virtually impossible to keep your binoculars completely dry, and it takes only a small amount of moisture to cause mildewing inside the lenses, thus affecting your ability to see clearly through them.

Waterproof binoculars are not simply made of a water resistant material such as rubber. Instead, the design of the internal components actually makes the binoculars waterproof. A hermetically sealed binocular is considered waterproof, while a nitrogen-filled binocular is also fog-proof.

Fogged lenses can be a problem for those of us who like to use their binoculars in cold weather, like at a football game or while out hunting in the fall. This is the time that binoculars can get fogged up inside. Lenses fog up when moisture enters the binoculars and condenses on the lenses. If you're not going to use your binoculars in cold weather, then fog-proof binoculars aren't important to you.

A fog-proof, waterproof and fully multi-coated lenses are features that you should look for in a pair of binoculars. If you can't afford all these high quality features, realize that these three features will be found in the best binoculars. Fog-proof binoculars resist getting fogged up inside because they are sealed off from the atmosphere outside and the inside is filled with nitrogen. Nitrogen gas provides a constant atmosphere in the sealed tubes of the binoculars. Because each tube is sealed, the nitrogen gas won't escape and moisture won't get in. Your lenses won't get foggy.

Binoculars that are waterproof will withstand submersion into water, but water-resistant binoculars won't. You can get the water-resistant type wet, but don't drop them overboard or otherwise submerge them. This includes having them drop out of your pocket into a pail of water while washing the car. Trust me, I know!

Manufacturers have gone from using a single coating of some of the optics to having multiple special coatings for each piece of glass, lens and prism. This takes more time and care at the factory, and so the more coatings the better and probably the higher price binoculars. Get the best quality optics that you can afford and you won't regret it. Objects will appear bright with optimal resolution, fine contrast and color accuracy.

What About Burglar Alarm Systems For The Home

    By Nicholas J Halmond

Home safety is a major concern for lots of folks these days. In many cases, there are blocks of time when no one is at home. The thought of break ins during the night can be a scary detriment to good sleep. Someone with either or both of these situations may want to consider one of the many burglar alarm systems available.

Burglar alarm systems have sensors that are connected to a central control unit. The sensors are activated as needed. When they are active, if they detect a condition that could indicate a security problem, they notify the control unit. The control looks at the global pattern of which sensors are signalling what, and determines if there is a significant probability of a real problem. If so, it will raise an alarm, either locally, or at a centralized security station.

Indoor motion, or the presence of an unexpected person, can be detected in a number of different ways. The body heat of a person can trip a passive infrared detector. Emission fields are generated by microwave and ultrasonic sensors. Movement within the field changes it in a detectable way.

Breaking glass often indicates some sort of problem. Glass break detectors can sense the unique sound pattern associated with this. Some burglary alarm systems can detect threats other than burglary. Smoke, heat, or carbon monoxide detectors may detect a fire or carbon monoxide from a malfunctioning appliance.

Most home systems primarily use indoor sensors. A number of types of outdoor sensors are also available. Some of them are based on the technologies used for indoor systems. The usually sense efforts to go over or through a wall or a fence.

The sensors need to be able to talk to the control unit. Either wired or wireless technology may be used. Of course wired connections require running wires, but they do cover the power needs of the sensors. Wires can be cut. If there are frequent health check messages between the control and the sensors, cut wires can be detected and can trigger alarms.

Wireless connections are easier to set up. They may or may not be easy to disrupt, depending on the specific technology used. They generally require more technical sophistication to disrupt. With wireless system, power must be provisioned for the sensors, either via connection to line power or via batteries.

The control unit must inform someone via an alarm when there is a problem. A flashing light or a sound such as a siren, voice, or buzzer will do the job locally. There may be a private line to a security center, or the public phone network or a wireless interface may be used for the central alarm. The signal may go to an alarm company security center, or it may go to the police. Some areas have banned direct connection to a police station.

There must be simple methods for activating or deactivating the system at different times of day. There might be separate modes for everybody home, everybody gone, and nighttime everybody in bed. It must be configurable as well. Usually the system will be activated by the last person to leave and deactivated by the first person in.

Those are some basics of burglar alarm systems. They can be a little complex, but they are often worth the investment needed to buy them, install them, and learn how to use them. Once they are running they should make you more secure with little or no impact on how you do things.

The Power Measurement Is An Important Feature Of Binoculars

    By Ken Dragki

Basically, all binoculars work along the same principles, so your first step to choosing a pair binoculars is to understand the jargon associated with binoculars.

The first feature you should look at is the binoculars' power measurements. The power is listed by a pair of number such as 10x25, pronounced "ten-by-twenty five". The first number is the amount of magnification. In this case the image would be magnified by a power of 10, or in other words would appear 10 times closer than without the binoculars. The second number listed is the size of the lens in millimeters. In this case the lens is 25 mm in diameter.

A binocular with Porro prisms tend to be heavier and bulkier, but because of their design tend to let in more light and produce sharper and brighter images. When you see a pair of binoculars that look more like straight tubes with no offsets, these are roof prism binoculars.

A binocular with roof prisms are a much newer design that makes for a more compact pair of binoculars. Roof prism models can still have fairly large lenses, but the physical weight and size of the binoculars are greatly reduced. However don't expect to see any giant binoculars that utilize roof prisms. The image you see in roof prism binoculars is not always as sharp or as bright as traditional Porro prism binoculars.

Something that can greatly affect the price of a pair of binoculars is special anti-reflective lens coatings. These special coatings are designed to cut down on glare and help ensure that as much light as possible is collected by the optics. While coated optics are desirable they can quickly make the price of your binoculars.

If you just want to observe birds at your back yard feeder, then a small birding binocular or spotting binoculars that are light and simple to use would be the best choice. If you plan to mount your binoculars on a tripod and use them for astronomy study, you should choose a larger Celestron binocular. If you plan to use your binoculars for camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, boating or any other outdoor activity, you should probably choose a weatherproof or waterproof binocular. Waterproof binoculars have a rubber coated body which keeps out moisture and protects the optics and internal parts from corrosion.

A Zoom Len Is Very Versatile

    By Ken Dragki

It is also a good idea to visit a store that specializes in cameras and lenses that go with them. Talk to the salespeople there, and get all of your questions answers. Find out about pricing too. Usually the higher prices are the more professional cameras.

When there is a shorter focal length, the field of view becomes wider, providing more scenes for your camera to capture. When you increase the focal length, the actual field of view becomes narrower.Slower shutter speed can result to blurry photos when cameras are handheld. Image stabilization counteracts the shaking, allowing one to shoot certain handheld shots amidst low lighting conditions.

Prime lenses are fixed focal length lenses like a 50mm 1.4f lens. To zoom with these types of lenses you need to use your feet and to get closer or farther away from the subject. Traditionally prime lenses are sharper and faster then zoom lenses. If you are on a budget you can pick up some amazing used older prime lenses off eBay or your local camera store.

Macro Lenses are your detail brushes as they enable you to get up close and personal with your subject. These types of lenses are used for extreme close ups on small objects like daisies, pennies, and food but not limited to these types of subjects. Examples of macro lenses are 50mm and 100mm macros. These lenses are also great for selective focus types of photos.

Lenses with long focal lengths 100mm and higher are called telephoto lenses. A long focal length seems to bring the subject closer to you and increases the subject's size in the frame. Telephoto lenses also give your subjects a graphic look and flatten out your subject. These lenses are my short stroke brushes.

These types of lenses are very expensive but so get what you pay for. When shopping for a zoom lenses check out the f-stop range rating. An example is a 24mm to 300mm f3.5-f5.6 lenses meaning the lowest f-stop you can shoot is at the 24mm range of the lenses and when you zoom to 200mm the lowest you can go is f5.6.

Why Are Digital Cameras Are So Fashionable

    By Charlotte Kaycee

For many people, taking pictures is a part of life. Their camera always sits in a convenient location in the home and is taken with them whenever they attend an event or go on vacation. Today, however, this is easier than ever as compact digital cameras continue to develop to the point where they are now lightweight, pocket size, and provide the perfect picture every time. No longer does one have to "cross their fingers" until their film is returned that shows whether that "moment in time" was captured or missed as the shot taken can be viewed immediately.

Photos are now expected in every home not only in albums, but covering much of the wall space. These steps that we take with our loved ones are important in showing how we developed as an individual and family throughout our lifetimes. Not only are those "once in a lifetime" opportunities important, however, as often moments can now be "created" that depicts the action of our lives in such a way as to ensure we make use of every opportunity.

Many of today's digital cameras easily fit in a pocket or a purse, but one does not have to give up quality in order to have convenience. The majority have at least 12 to 14 mega-pixels as well as a 3x or 4x zoom lens. Many also have panorama capability in order to ensure that one misses nothing in the picture regardless of how extensive the scene or group might be.

Digital cameras use a memory chip that can be input into many printers or computer ports in addition to allowing an immediate review of the picture just taken in the screen from which one sets up the photo. This ensures that if the perfect opportunity is missed because of a fuzzy picture or out-of-frame shot, additional pictures can be taken before one leaves the scene. This is especially important when at important events or on vacation as the chance of ever replicating the experience is minimal.

The Backup Camera System - An Overlooked Accessory

    By Fausto Trombley

In a country who values safety and security I have been amazed to discover a lack of 'reversing' or 'backing-up' systems available as standard equipment on American autos. I lived and worked for many years in the UK as a delivery driver and field engineer. Every van and truck that I was required to drive (no matter it's size or weight) was equipped with a parking sensor.

This parking sensor system always consisted of what appeared to be four to six little round 'buttons' that were constructed as part of the rear bumper. Depending upon the manufacturer these parking sensors could be anything from infrared transmitters to sonar or actually radar emitters that sent out the signal and measured the distance from the rear bumper to an object behind the vehicle. The parking sensors were difficult wired through the vehicle and usually attached to a speaker in the dash board. When the vehicle was placed in reverse the parking sensor would detect anything behind the vehicle and emit a beep or other sound. The closer the rear bumper to the object the louder or more urgent the beeping. I am sure you can imagine how helpful this is for anyone reversing in a situation where line of site is difficult or interrupted. Not to mention helpful for anyone who is learning to drive or parallel park.

I did some research to try to discover why this simple system was not available on most cars, particularly in view of America's propensity for mini-vans. I don't think I ever got a fine answer on why the audio reversing sensor seemed to be so uncommon. However I did find something even better, the backup camera system.

In the last few years an increasing number of cars sold in the states are available with a backup camera system option. Unfortunately this option is rather expensive, which lead me to further research.

The fine news is that a fine quality back up camera system can very easily be found. However you have to know what you are looking for; i.e. search for the RV backup camera. These devices are truly a must have for the RV owner and are standard equipment on most of the much more expensive models sold in the last few years. The technology had been around for a while in this arena so there are quite a few after-market models sold individually that can be used on cars, vans and trucks as well.

There appears to be two standard types of backup camera system. The first and usually the most inexpensive is what I refer to as the hard-wired system. This backup camera system consists of a small camera mounted on the rear of the vehicle that is linked by wires to a plain LCD screen mounted on the dashboard. The backup camera draws power from the vehicle's reversing light circuit so it only comes on when the car is in reverse mode. However while this particular type of backup camera system appears to be affordable to purchase you have to consider the installation. Unless you have a bit of experience with auto mechanics and auto interiors they can be hard to install yourself.

The second type of backup camera system that I ran across seems to be the most sensible actually if it appears to be a small much more expensive. I am talking about the wireless backup camera. As you might guess the long wire from trunk to dashboard is replaced with wireless transceivers from camera to screen. The models I have reviewed thus much still use the reversing light array to power the camera but if you can change the light bulb in your car's tail light then you should have no problems hooking up the camera yourself.

    Digital Photographs Or Something Else

    By Erin McCarty

Having lost count of the quantity of folk who have asked me : have you gone digital? I am always left considering why it's such a much-asked question .

The camera is only a tool in which a snapper creates an image. His private capacity to form a totally unique image is the same.

For many kinds of photography, digital has long held clear advantages, except for landscapes the resolution necessary to make bigger prints just was not available. But things have changed and digicams are fast turning into the tools that most pros use. But are they able to basically match the big format film cameras?

This is the best question that all photographers face. Instant LCD feedback is digitals best present and this enables the paparazzo to test exposure and composition of their image in the blinking of an eye. While this is a giant advantage, the hours spent in front of the personal computer processing the raw photographs must be a hindrance.

A landscape photographers time is best spent behind a camera not in front of a P. C. The good points and bad points of digital photography will remain an issue for some considerable time. At the end of the day a digicam won't make a photographers photographs better.

The same values we apply in our photography should stay without regard for which camera we use. Good photography remains as evasive and as alluring as it ever has been, going digital doesn't change this or make getting good footage any more easy. It brings technical benefits, and heaps of them, but the majority of photographic methodologies never change.

Good landscape photographs come from the snapper's private capability, not the capability of a camera. The camera helps, but the creative eye stays the same.

There are some easy reasons that I continue to employ a film camera : The veracity of my photographs may be queried if I made use of a digicam. It is often assumed that great digital photos have been manipulated. Too much time is spent in front of a PC. Slide film produce stronger colors than a digicam. There are several advantages for changing to digital but I am going to stay with film, for the time-being that is. With time, film cameras will be a thing of the past and all our photographs will be exchanged for the pixels.

    However be cautious.
