3 Types of Cameras

By Adrian Rose

This article will outline 3 different types of cameras: Box, Folding-Roll, and Viewfinder. This information will help you decide which camera suits your photography needs the best.

For over several decades the box camera was the gadget of choice for the typical amateur photographer. This is because it was cheap and simple, yet still capable of excellent results under most conditions. Box cameras were usually fitted with a single-element lens, a limited range opening control, and a single-speed shutter.

Next up is the Folding-Roll Film Camera, which was also very popular but not quite as much so as the box camera. The folding camera came in several types of formats, but basically, it was a box camera whose lens was included into a movable disk that could slide back and forth on a rail, allowing the lens to change focus from close to long range.

There were more complicated models available, but they were more expensive and considered very high quality. But, the most important benefit that they had over the box camera, was their compact design when folded, which made them easier to pack and transport. There has been something of a minor renaissance in folding-roll film cameras in recent years, with appearance of several new professional instruments. They are appreciated for their large negative size and compact design.

Next is a Viewfinder type camera which does not use a lens to view the subject but instead relies on a separate viewing system in the camera for aiming and for focus. The range finder camera allows for accurate focus, however, by using two views of the same subject to adjust focus. In this camera there are two images in the viewfinder. One is usually only a portion of the viewer area and is usually slightly yellowish in color. The photographer adjusts the focus ring on the lens and as they do the two images move. When both on directly on top of each other they blend together and almost disappear which signifies that the camera is in focus. The rangefinder is accurate and very quiet as well as being light weight. It is also useful for taking pictures in low light conditions or for candid photographs. These cameras can easily be spotted because of their double view windows in the front.

Enjoy your photography hobby and remember " keep experimenting with different angles and new lighting. Dont be afraid to get creative!

Digital Photography Lessons - Are Shadows Ruining Your Photos?

By Dan Eitreim

Shadows can and frequently do ruin otherwise good photographs.

The downside is that photography is all about light and where there is light, there are shadows. The upside is, there are some pretty basic and easy to do fixes.

To start, what is causing the shadow? That's easy, it's when light is hitting your photo subject and not hitting the backdrop behind them.

The first "fix" if you're having a problem with distracting, ugly shadows on your backdrop...remove the backdrop. If there is nothing behind your model, there is nothing for the shadow to fall on, therefor there's no visible shadow.

So, start out by removing the background if you can.

If you're shooting outdoors, position your subject so that there is nothing behind them! Easy enough.

If your photo session is being done indoors, you obviously can't take down or remove the walls, so move your model into the center of the room. They'll be posing far enough away from the walls so that the shadows will magically disappear. Usually makes for a more unique and better shot too!

Another way to approach the problem is to add another light source that is hitting the backdrop.

If you're lighting your subject with "studio" type lights; get your model lit the way you want and then add another light that bypasses the model and lights up the background.

The extra - unadvertised - bonus with this method is that you can add colored gels, cookies and scrims to modify the light. They throw unique shapes, patterns and colors onto your backing. This way it becomes a design element in your photo and not simply a shadow removal tool.

The way to think of light and shadow is this...light is like a billiards ball. When you roll a billiards ball into a cushion, the ball will bounce off. The key is, it will bounce off at the same angle it struck to cushion. (Remember this the next time you are trying to eliminate glare from eyeglasses.)

The shadow on the other hand, is ALWAYS directly in line with the light. So, you can minimize the shadow problem by changing the angle of the lights so that the shadow falls into an area that won't show in the final photo.

Indoors, with a studio light setup, just move the lights around until you find the optimal angle. Outside, you have to move your model around until the light is coming from the right direction. Reflectors can help too! you can change the angle of light when using an on camera flash by bouncing it off a wall or the ceiling. Just be sure the wall or ceiling are not painted a color that will throw an odd color cast on your model.

The final intensity and harshness of a shadow is determined by the size and strength of the light source, relative to the subject.

If you lower the intensity of the light, that will also lower the intensity of the associated shadow. It will still be there, but you may be able to minimize its' distracting effect.

Moving the light further from the model or reducing the lights' power are two simple ways to lower the intensity of light hitting your subject.

Another option is to increase the size of a light relative to the model. This makes the light wrap around them and minimizes the shadow. You can make a light bigger with umbrellas, reflectors and softboxes.

These modifiers can be thought of as being like a cloud. A cloud that moves between your model and the sun is nothing more than a giant diffuser. It makes the entire cloud a light source (bigger) instead of just the sun (smaller). This wraps the light around your model minimizing shadow intensity. Go outside and check out the difference in shadows when the light is coming from the sun and from a cloud. You'll notice some astounding differences.

Light, diffusion and shadows are the subjects of many books. This article is only a beginning. go to the library and read a few books on the subject, you'll be glad you did.

Happy shooting.

Information On Buying Digital Cameras

By Lucille Green

The latest digital cameras are brimming with technological features, often features are not understood by the buyer who only intends to use it on occasion. When you are ready to buy a digital camera, consider what it is you want it to do. To get you 'kick started' there are some useful tips outlined in this article. The first piece of information is defining what you need and want in a camera.

For instance: what type of images are you hoping to capture? As far as cost is concerned, no matter what your needs and wants are for the device, your financial resource will play a huge part in dictating the type of model you will buy.

If you are using you home pc to carry out photo editing you will need to think about whether you pc is up to the task. Some new personal computers come with a digital camera as part of a package, this may be worth considering. When you buy a digital camera, the image editing software usually comes with it but other necessities such as a photo printer will be an extra cost item.

Special photo printers that do not require a computer are now available and the price of these is dropping slowly. If you are looking forward to really high quality images then you will have to ensure the cameras settings are at the highest megapixel level possible. When fitted to a digital camera, its internal memory is usually only good for the storage of a couple of high resolution shots. The storage capacity of some current storage cards can go up to 32 gigabytes, however, not every model is compatible with the very large ones although most users are fine with 1 to 2 gigabyte cards.

The more a user friendly' your model is, the more likely it is you will use it. Take note of how easy it is to operate because although functions are important, if it isn't easy to use, it won't be! Many newer digital cameras come equipped with large internal rechargeable batteries but if not you shot invest in a couple of sets, not only are these extremely cost effective, less batteries means less are disposed of which helps the environment. Some people buy their digital camera purely on the size of the screen,it makes both viewing and taking photos much easier but they can be a drain on battery power.

the LCD screen is much easier to use. If you can, when you buy your chosen model, get one with the best range optical zoom you can afford because it is one of the most used and useful functions. Digital zoom only cameras should really be avoided as pictures using a digital only zoom are usually less clear. Two other things to look out for are diopter adjustment for people with poorer vision and a tripod socket because both are very useful. I hope this information has helped you understand a few of the basic expressions and topics that will help you buy a digital camera.

Tips and Tricks to Photography

By Court

There are infinite numbers of companies that provide digital cameras that have the ability to capture a black and white photo. The comparison with the color photo will give reasonable results. The size of a picture in this case is small compared the same photograph that is taken with the aid of color. In realism the digital photographers have a first choice to shoot images in low dissimilarity situations. Some digital photographers have a preference to shoot this kind of pictures in low contrast conditions. So a shadowy or cloudy day would be an immense time to shoot this kind of photos. It is better to shoot with a dark and gloomy day outside.

One of the simplest digital photography tricks to employ would be to have your subject rotate their head slightly. Many beginner photographers, I was guilty of this as well, would just direct the model to say cheese and would immediately snap the picture. Since then I have changed my procedure, I look at how they have their head and tell them to tilt it to the side just slightly, so that it is not parallel to the camera.

The majority of the wide-ranging tips on how to create or frame a good shot apply for this as well as the photos that are shot in color. Particular consideration to darkness becomes a feature of your photos. Practice and training are required for taking pictures of this kind. There is particular attention needed from the photographer to understand the shadows and lights to become an efficient black and white photographer.

Some digital photography tricks are very simple, try something as easy as changing your angle. Move directly above the subject and shoot the picture looking straight down. Zoom in to reveal only a portion of their face. Get creative, that is what makes photography fun.. While looking at the subject and the entire surroundings, think about what other photographers would do and create a different way to capture the picture.

They are getting more affordable too, so everyone can dive in the digital camera age and start capturing precious moments.

While top companies struggle to keep their cameras high on features and good on price, some forget to make them simple and easy to use. Now you dont have to do some minor corrections on the computer or the camera itself. The improved face detection makes it even better by accurately setting the right skin tones.

There is even a cool feature in the Canon SD 770 that will definitely take out some frustration from new users with new motion detection technology. Capturing moving subjects was always a pain in standard digital cameras, but now newbies can shoot the way they want to and capture motion shots like the professionals all with the motion detection technology that the Canon PowerShot SD770 offers.

With all these goodies packed in the small camera, all you need to do really is insert a memory card, turn on the camera, set it on auto, and start shooting away. How A Film Camera Works

By Don Bethune

The lightweight, compact Canon PowerShot A590IS is an 8-megapixel model. Its 4x optical zoom lens and impressive focal length (which is equivalent to a 35mm cameraas 35-140mm) provide for clear photos. The A590as face recognition technology zeroes in on the subject and keeps it in focus and the 2.5-inch screen allows for easy viewing. This model has a strong set of features for an entry-level PowerShot.

The A590as image stabilizer (IS) compensates for small movements, or acamera shakea and compensates within the lens element. This capability allows the camera to create a much sharper picture at a low shutter speed, a feature not available on cameras without IS.

The A590as manual provides all of the details about the camera. The 2.5-inch LCD screen has 115,000-pixel resolution and a visual viewfinder. The back of the camera (where the screen is located) also includes buttons for a variety of other functions on the camera.

With a traditional film camera, the shutter opens and closes very quickly, allowing only a miniscule amount of light to reach the film. When the light contacts the film, it creates a reaction in the light-sensitive chemical in the film.

The amount of light allowed in by the shutter has a large effect on the changes to the light-sensitive material on the film. If the shutter allows in too much light, the film is aoverexposeda, causing too many of the light-sensitive elements to change. When this happens, there is not enough difference between the lighter and darker parts of the picture for the photo to be clear.

The grains of the film are permanently changed by the chemical reaction of the light hitting the film. Besides those already mentioned, a wide variety of other features are also a part of the .PowerShot A590. The lensas focal length has an effect on how big the picture appears on the cameraas screen.

A longer disclosure permits extra brightness, and a shorter disclosure permits smaller amount brightness. The iris proceeds to decrease the quantity of brightness, and it also influences the spotlight. This is known as 'field of focus'. A lesser orifice in the iris creates a larger field of spotlight, letting object nearer and further than away from the real point of spotlight to appear sharper.

The camera has a meter that measures the brightness of the area being photographed. The camera is able to manage the lens, shutter, and opening depending on the amount of brightness detected. The process of creating a quality picture is thus automated, allowing the photographer to concentrate on the subject.

The Right Bag For All Your Digital Camera Needs

By Sylvia Howard

You may just have acquired a new digital camera and your trigger finger is itching for the occasion to take lots of nice pictures, so buying accessories may be the last thing on your mind as you are figuring out what subject to photograph first.

Yet, the truth is that after buying your new digital camera, the camera bag might just be the most important accessory. Why is this? Well, you certainly want to be able to protect that camera that you just spent so much time and money on, and you certainly want to be able to carry your new camera around. You also need a bag that allows you to access your equipment easily and helps you organize your other equipment.

There are a great number of different kinds of camera bags, some for general use and some pore specialized, and most of them packed with different features. You should spend some time choosing the right one for you, as it may become a good companion for much time to come.

You can pick out a camera bag that is carried with one strap over the shoulder if you have little equipment, or even a belt pouch for a compact camera with a few extra batteries and memory cards.

If on the other hand you have a professional SLR digital camera, and possibly a lot of extra accessories such as lenses, filters and flashlights, you should get a more complex bag. Depending on the kind of journeys that you will be doing, you could opt for a metal case, or for a specialized backpack.

Most importantly, the camera bag should become an aid in carrying and protecting your digital camera and its accessories, not an obstacle, so you should avoid heavy cases if they are not suited to the kind of travel that you will do. Get a bag that will allow you to carry all your kit comfortably.

If you are just starting out taking photographs, you may only need a basic camera bag - a bag that will hold just your camera. But if you have multiple camera accessories, like multiple camera bodies and lenses, etc, you are obviously going to need a larger camera bag. You are going to want a camera bag that can at least hold those accessories that you use most often.

If you have a lot of sensitive equipment, such as several cameras, you should get a bag with dividers that are attached to Velcro strips and that can be fastened at different places inside the bag. This will further protect your digital camera accessories and give you more flexibility.

Double-sided zip closures with a waterproof covering are another great feature for bigger digital camera bags, both for added security and comfort. If you get a camera bag with these closures, you will find them extremely useful.

A digital camera bag's color may not sound like an important thing to think about, but bear in mind that dark colors such as black may result in your camera and accessories becoming overheated in certain conditions in the summer. This is why a lighter and more neutral color, such as tan, is more advisable for digital camera bags.

Why buy Nikon Coolpics P90?

By Marcus Liebe

For many people the whole idea of buying a digital camera is confusing with so many to choose from. Finding the best digital camera should really be quite simple with all the consumer reports and comparisons available both online and in written periodicals. Eventually saving enough money to buy that eye-popping, 12 megapixel, 24x optical zoom with up to a sixteen gigabyte expandable memory using super hi-speed SD memory card and of course, very compact; which we hope be the envy of almost everyone we know. The problem is by the time you actually get to the mall, the model you have set your heart on is no longer the one to own as there is a new better version that you must now have.

If you are looking to print your photos then the more pixels you have the greater the image definition will be. This increase in megapixels means that poster size pictures can be easily printed. The best models will often have a large LCD screens to help you frame your subject without having to squint in the viewfinder. More and more digital cameras are able to perform some basic adjustments of the captured image, and using a large LCD makes this possible without using a computer.

Suddenly you are frustrated again as you learn that because you want the best digital camera, it is going to cost you considerably more than you thought. But this dilemma is very short lived because you promised yourself the best digital camera and that is what you are going to have. If you are new to digital cameras and photography the tips below might be useful and point you in the right direction. The resolution is probably the most important feature to look at so go for a model with the highest megapixel resolution you can afford.

However, if you remember that a large screen equals higher power consumption, smaller screen, lower power consumption you can't go wrong so just carry a spare set of rechargeable batteries with you everywhere. A digital zoom facility is available on almost every digital camera these days but optical zoom cameras cost more but the result is far superior. You will find lower price cameras almost never have an optical zoom fitted so it will really be down to your budget. Your camera will normally come with a memory card albeit a small one so you will probably need to buy a large capacity card, so use the one you have to make sure you purchase the correct one.

The larger the display the better but remember that the greater the size the screen shorter the life of the batteries. A digital camera with an optical zoom facility is the one to try for and a digital zoom only camera should be avoided if you want clear, well defined images. Optical zooms are usually fitted on the more expensive cameras with a combination digital zoom. Images on these cameras are stored on small storage cards that can have a huge memory capacity but be sure to buy the right type.

Unfortunately digital zooms just don't cut it so avoid them unless you are buying an inexpensive camera as a gift for a child. Images on these cameras are stored on small storage cards that can have a huge memory capacity but be sure to buy the right type.

Although there is quite a range of storage cards available it normally boils down to one of four types: the newer XD cards from Olympus and Fuji, the SD, card, Sony's Memory Stick and the old but reliable Compact Flash. Try to obtain the largest memory you can for your camera and your budget. Whereas a few years ago a large storage card would be somewhere in the region of 2gb to 4mb, it is not uncommon to use cards with 16 gigabytes or more of storage now. Your life and interests should really be the ideal measuring stick for the type of digital camera you ultimately buy. Ultimately, the camera you choose should be one that you will take with you everywhere and use all the time.

Looking For A Good Camera?

By Don Bethune

When I bought my last digital camera, I based my selection on reviews from the internet, the opinions of my family and friends and information from workers in the store. I'm sure you do the same when you want to buy a digital camera.

I find that I prefer to shop around, and check out the features of a wide variety of cameras. My criteria are good features, high quality and low cost. The Canon Powershot a590is is the camera that suits me the best.

The camera is affordable, since it only costs between 80 and 300 dollars. I bought mine online, as they were offering the best deal at the time. Buying online means that the prices are usually cheaper than in stores, but shop around to find the best bargain.

While this camera doesn't cost a lot, it's a really good camera for the money. The quality and ease of use are excellent, and I think the price is very reasonable. All I had to do was read through the manual quickly, and then I was taking beautiful pictures.

There's another Canon Powershot camera, the a570is. There's a few places on the internet where they compare this camera to the a590is. The reviews say that when it comes to a570is vs a590is, they are both good. I prefer the a590is

In any case, both of these cameras have a reasonable price, are high-quality and take lovely pictures. I've had no complaints with the a590is, and the pictures look like they were taken professionally! The canon powershot a590is is a really good camera.

The camera contains all the features you would want on a camera like this. It has a zoom lens, anti-shake technology to ensure crisp pictures, and takes AA batteries (which I find very convenient). The a590is also takes a range of memory cards, such as CompactFlash, Memory Stick, SD cards and xD picture cards. The camera also has other great features too!

If you want to find out more about the a590is, then simply search on the internet for canon a590is reviews. Hopefully this will help you make your mind up, and you'll be as happy as I am with your new camera.

Shopping For Electronic Items Made Easy Now

By Dennis Jackson

Most of the major electronic chain stores are now selling their products online. This is not only convenient, but also time saving for their customers. Online electronic shops which cater to the majority of electronic shoppers offer a wide array of quality products to choose from as well as cost effective prices. These shops give the consumer the option of either buying in retail or in wholesale.

The consumer selects the category for the item they are looking for on the site. They then check out the available products. Then they simply click the link on the particular product that interests them. Product information including color, appearance and features will be displayed. Online shops have the latest upgrades of the various electronic products, while traditional shopping stores take a substantial amount of time longer if compared.

It is the consumer who is required to give all the specification of any particular item that interests him/her when placing their order. The online company is left with the task of ferrying the products to the client. All the shipping costs are included in the overall cost and if not the information is communicated to the buyer to get rid of misunderstanding. If you have ordered for goods expect them to be delivered to you within two to four days depending on the distance. When ordering the time frame is stated clearly to you and in case there arise anything that might delay the delivery you will be told in advance

Electronics shops mostly exchange the products that were bought if there is no complain. If the consumer is satisfied with the item after it has been delivered, they forward the issue to the seller for directions on what steps to take and follow. A feedback is confirmed if the customers are certified.

Each and every item that is bought comes with a certificate of confirmation so that the consumer is assured of having a real product. Every measure is taken to ensure that there is a step taken to minimize credit card, or be keen with theft that may take place to personal information dealing with consumer's confidentiality. After the sale services are give out to all the items as well as a warranty, some of warranties range between 12 and 24 moths.

These online electronic shops also offer rewards schemes, some in points, buy-one-get-one-free models, free merchandise and discounts. They also give free online registration to all.

Here's One Of The Easiest Ways To Totally RUIN A Good Photograph!

By Dan Eitreim

Ok, we haunt the camera shops, try out and buy all the latest gadgetry, read all the photo magazines and books. Finally, we load some film into our camera, (or insert a new memory stick) find a suitable subject and start firing away!

Afterwards, we spend a couple hours trying to remember how to download the photos to our computer - why does everything have to be so technical(?) - or we take our exposed film to the local processing lab. Finally our pictures are ready.

Our gorgeous model has a tree growing out of her head - on every shot in the ENTIRE session! Or, we never noticed that garbage can off to the side. You know, the one ruining the best shots. Did you notice the cars driving by in the background? How about the bunch of kids walking by?

Yeah, we fell into the trap of focusing all our attention on the model and not looking around at the other elements in the scene. It's easy to do. And I don't care who they are, every photographer out there has done the same thing!

Photography is a very technical art! We have to worry about the light, the f-stop, the shutter speed, film speed and so on. Next we throw in the models' pose, smile, eyes - and now we're expected to notice the trash cans, kids and cars in the background?

Yes! Make it a habit to add one more second to your photo setup and run your eye all the way around the edges of the viewfinder. This extra step of looking for potential problems is pretty easy - if you make it a habit.

Slow down. It's easy to get caught up in the moment and shoot too fast. Force yourself to scan the viewfinders' edges. What about that trash can off in the distance? Will it be blurred out? Or will it show in focus in the final print. Can you or your model move so you are shooting at an angle to eliminate it?

Is there a street in the backdrop? Take a second to check and see if there is any traffic coming - either auto or pedestrian traffic. If so, can you change the scene to eliminate the problem? Or will you have to wait for a break in the traffic?

I know this is a very obvious tip, but if this wasn't a very costly, everyday problem I wouldn't have bothered with this article. You can save a lot of time and money by just taking an extra second or two and looking at your backgrounds.

Nikon, one of the worlds leading brands in cameras, specializes in optics and imaging. This means that you can never go wrong with Nikon D40 Digital SLR Camera because it is a quality camera.

Digital camera is a camera that stores images in a memory device rather than recording them on film. Unlike images on film, images that have been stored in a memory device can be manipulated and downloaded to a computer system.

SLR is short for single lens reflex. It is a shutter mechanism built inside the camera that uses mirror system and pentaprism. This system works by directing light from the lens to an optical viewfinder on the back of the camera. Simply put, SLR enables you to see exactly what the lens sees. Also, it produces-high quality image photos because it has large image sensors. And on top of that, you can change the lens, which is very important as it helps enhance the clarity, color and contrast of your photos.

D40 is a type of SLR digital camera that Nikon produced to provide the following features: 6.1 Megapixels with 200-1600 ISO sensitivity range, 3.0x DX zoom Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II lens, 2.5 LCD monitor of 230,000 pixel, 2.5 fps burst shot, improved menu user interface, pictbridge direct printing, in-camera retouching, built-in speed light.

Cheap compared to other DSLRs.

Produces crisp, beautiful pictures.

With long lasting battery.

Fits other Nikon lenses.

Very durable.

With a great shutter speed capability.

With a bright viewfinder.

With sharp LCD color monitor.

With a relatively high resolution.

Allows in-camera image editing.

With a perfectly matched lens.

The Nikon D40 Digital SLR camera is ideal for action photography as it has near-zero lag time. So, it is perfect for capturing fleeting moments. Unlike other cameras, it has no delay so you can shoot moving objects and still have clear photos. This camera, like other digital cameras with night mode, will enable you to take clear photos in a darker environment but without the grains and noises.

Film Photography Spawned Digital

By Yars Revenga

In today's world, everything seems to move faster than the speed of light. This holds true within the world of photography with new techniques and methods pushing the envelope in this ever evolving industry.

35mm film, also referred to as 135 film, can be used for still photographs and motion pictures. The 35mm camera was put on the market in 1934 and was a best seller by the late 1960s and still enjoys success today.

The typical number of exposures on a roll of 35mm film is 36. However, the number of exposures can vary depending on the needs of the photography and cost constraints. Disposable cameras can be found in 6, 8, 10, or 15 exposure quantities.

The American Tourist Multiple was first introduced in 1913. It was very expensive for the average consumer. In 1925, the 35mm Leica was released and created a boon for photography hobbyists and enthusiasts across the globe.

The Leica quickly caught on amongst photography enthusiasts. Its compact size, quality glass and German craftsmanship all contributed to the success of the 35mm Leica camera. The Leica became the standard for professional photographers, fashion photographers and photojournalists.

In 1934, the Kodak Company launched the German built Kodak Retina, the first 35mm camera to use the modern film cartridge, familiar to camera users today. The next important innovation took place in the 1960s when Nikon introduced the Nikon F SLR.

The SLR camera, Single Lens Reflex system, took the world of photography by storm and hasn't looked back since. These cameras were more intuitive to handle than its predecessors. Multiple functions such as a viewfinder, preview screen and a motor to advance the film.

Traditional 35mm film camera sales took a big hit when digital cameras first hit the scene. But with the advent of Digital SLR cameras, the 35mm seems to have weathered the storm and is regaining its popularity.

The camera industry is topped by Kodak, Nikon, Olympus, Fuji and Canon. Their endeavors and dedication to research and development will no doubt yield yet another breakthrough in the world of photography. Despite sweeping technological advancements, the 35mm film camera will always have a place in history.

Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera " The Self-Cleaning Camera

By Fred Gagnon

Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera is the very first 35mm SLR camera with a self cleaning function. This mechanically engineered mini-cam features pentaprism mechanism, auto focus lens and instant return mirrors.

Still experience the annoying shot delay and blurred images with your camera? Then, it is time for you to replace it with the Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera. This digital camera has all the ability that you are looking for in a camera. If you want a versatile camera that responses fast and gives you outstanding image quality, the Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera is perfect for you.

For one, it features 10.2 megapixels resolution. This means you can enlarge and crop images without having to worry about square-shaped picture elements appearing in the image. It is also equipped with Nikons 3D Color Matrix Metering II. This will help you shoot good images under bad lighting conditions.

While enjoying all these amazing features, you can also make use of the interchangeable Nikkor lenses. Nikon has a wide array of Nikkor lenses that can be used for the different Nikon digital SLR cameras.

But the most amazing feature of this camera is that it can clean itself. It uses vibrations to steer dust away from the optical low-pass filter in front of the sensor every time you turn the camera on or off. This Integrated Dust Reduction system function can be activated and deactivated manually.

Dusts and tiny particles are one of the problems photographers usually experience. These degrading materials can destroy images. The dusts and tiny particles can attach to the filter or can be seen by the sensor, thus, destroying the quality of the images. So, Nikon added the Integrated Dust Reduction System in the Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera.

The Integrated Dust Reduction System works two ways. First is the exclusive Airflow Control System. The function of this system is to lead the air within the mirror box towards the small ducts located near the base. This prevents internal dusts from going in front of the image sensor.

Also included in the Integrated Dust Reduction System is the Imaging Sensor Cleaning mechanism. This mechanism aims to reduce the dusts and tiny particles that can accumulate.

Another addition to this remarkable camera is the eye sensor. The eye sensor instantly turns off the information display on the LCD whenever you look through the viewfinder. This means that you do not have to push a button or the screen to remove the information on the screen if you want to take pictures.

Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera has Active D-Lighting. It automatically corrects scenes in difficult lighting conditions while you shoot. Just select Matrix for metering and activate the Active D-Lighting before you shoot.

Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera is light and compact. It was designed ergonomically to give you comfort while shooting. With its 2.5 inch LCD monitor, you can turn the display format from Classic to Graphic. Aside from its self-cleaning function, it has a bright and clear viewfinder and a built-in flash. With Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera, you can enjoy all of these features and more.

What Is LCD Technology?

By Tech Suave

LCD technology may sound unusual, but in reality it's used by us every day. LCD technology is used in stereos, personal computer monitors, microwave ovens, digital clocks and calculators. Today, the technology is also being employed in high-tech flat screen TV sets and video monitors that produce unbelievably clear photographs.

LCD screens function by obstructing light. The crystals control the lightness of light as it's broadcast thru the glass. An electric charge is applied, and the crystals react to it, revolving to permit the light to pass thru the sections of glass. The LCD display is made from pixels and is illuminated by a florescent bulb that sends white light thru the glass panes.

Each pixel can produce about 16,000,000 colours. Liquid crystal display TVs offer masses of advantages to viewers. They provide superior lightness and contrast capacity far better than anything provided by conventional cathode ray Television sets.

Flat screen LCD sets also feature a 160 degree viewing angle, so that watchers will see everything from just about any location in the room. As the contrast quality is so good, spectators do not have to fret about turning off all of the lights in the room to get a good picture. Lamps don't produce a glare on an LCD flatscreen set. Another bonus with an LCD set is that most models come equipped with tuners and speakers. All you must do is plug the set in, and it is good to go.

The radio receivers and speakers are built in, which means no extra parts like set-top boxes or receivers are needed. This makes the liquid crystal display set ideal for homes that do not have much space to spare for a large TV that needs extraneous hardware. LCD sets are provided to display high definition television and standard television.

They can handle any sort of video format, and most come supplied with inputs for S-video, part video, and composite video. Most LCDs offer about sixty thousand hours ( or about 20 years ) of viewing, making them a good investment. They go on longer than plasma sets. The bulb is a critical factor in the LCD set, as it's responsible for picture and color quality. Before making an investment in one of these sets, check into brands and model types.

Thermal Camera Uses

The use of thermal cameras has expanded over the years, once widely used only for surveillance and security, the current technology has made these cameras serve many other useful purposes.

The infra red technology which detects heat energy can detect the minute temperature changes and this is generated as an image on a screen. The thermal imaging camera can easily identify hot or cold spots by measuring surface temperature variations. This ability to monitor the slightest change in temperatures is being used to:

  • Assess problems in electrical wiring by detecting changes in temperature along electrical circuits
  • Rapidly identify areas of missed insulation
  • Detect energy losses either due to air leaks or breaks in the walls
  • Detect areas of moisture accumulation in the walls, roofs and ceiling
  • Detect excessive heating in engines, mechanical devices

The portable thermal imaging cameras can be transported to the site and can quickly detect the spots of trouble. Many of these cameras have storage capabilities and image display monitors.

These cameras are the ideal tool for workers who have to constantly monitor electrical circuits and temperature adjustments.

All portable thermal cameras require AA batteries which allow for at least 4-6 hours of shelf life. The cost of these cameras starts around $ 2500-3000.

How To Buy A Digital Camera

By Michael Thompson

A cheap digital camera is what everyone is looking for, but what is really important is that you know what your needs are before you buy anything. Imagine spending $150 and feeling great about the deal you got, but you then realize that this camera is not enough for which you need! Basically, we need to take a look and match the price to what your usage is going to be.

Camera manufacturers all talk about the megapixel (MP) as a rating of the quality of the picture, and how good a camera is, but the mega pixel as a measurement of the quality of the camera is actually not a good point of measure. With technology improvements, the mega pixels keep getting higher, but that may not be what you really need.

The 3.1 mega pixel prints a perfect 8x10, but the new standard is 7-8 mega pixels. Unless you are a pro photographer, then anything over 3.1 is great. So, instead of spending bucks on a seven or eight mega pixel camera, you can get anything from 3.1 on up.

The next thing you wanted to is pick the right physical configuration of the camera. How many times have you purchase something with all kinds of bells and whistles, but never learn how to use them, or had a difficult time using them? Be honest with yourself. If you're just a point and shoot kind of person, and keep with the simple camera.

A Digital Single Lens Reflex typically has a larger body and a detachable lens. For many of you reading this article, the DSLR camera is more camera than you'll ever need. Here are the pros, the DSLR will take better pictures, but you will have to learn more. They are not point and click.

Point-and-shoot cameras are smaller, the lens is usually attached, and the lens actually retracts back into the camera base. These are the cameras sold at all big box retailers and electronic stores. You can find many in the few hundred dollar range.

The pros: The prices are much better, and affordable. Cons-the camera may not be repairable and goes out of date quickly. However, in many cases by the time the camera breaks it is out of date and the costs of purchasing a new one is actually cheaper.

Take a few minutes and think about what your needs are before you buy your cheap digital camera. If you are taking quick pictures for a photo album, then anything on the market from a mega pixel standpoint is fine. If you are taking quick pictures, then a point and shoot should work for you.

There are many benefits of photo printers. Today's technology has made it possible for anyone who integrates this type of printer into their home to copy pictures, and even print from digital camera memory cards with ease.

Post-Digital Photography

By James Gilbert Pynn

The digital revolution is no longer upon us; it has crested and we're now in the post-digital age. Hard to believe revolutions in technology come and go so quickly. From vinyl records to cassettes to CDs, the innovations never stop and our anxiety only increases. The reluctance some traditional photographers had to the digital SLR cameras seems quaint now. The art of 35mm film photography is little more than an introduction for most photography majors. The real meat is the digital camera.

The choices abound. Four mega pixels, eight mega pixels, 40 mega pixels, the capacity of modern digital SLR cameras is phenomenal. It is not hard to be bewildered by the choices. Even the most died-in-the-wool digital camera aficionado can use some digital photography tips, it seems.

A key to understanding your needs is being honest with how often you see yourself using it. Most professional photographers will opt for a digital SLR. Even traditional film photographers can make the transition a relatively painless one. Indeed, some lenses are compatible with digital SLR bodies.

Some advantages of a digital SLR are lens interchangeability, high speed photography, and through-the-lens viewfinders. If, however, none of these features matter very much to you, a simple digital point-and-shoot is all you will need. Be advised, though, that a point-and-shoot with an electronic viewfinder is the best option. Those with optical viewfinders are frustrating as they can distort the image.

No matter which kind you choose, going digital is not longer a viable alternative -- there are no alternatives, except for using film camera. The resistance is over and the future is now and it is digital. As the traditional film development facilities dwindle away, the roots of the digital revolution grow more and more entrenched. Film photography cannot hold a candle to the bonfire of convenience the digital camera offers. The king, so to speak, is dead long live the king.

How To Buy A Digital Camera

By Michael Thompson

A really good digital camera is what everyone is looking for, and getting a good camera starts with knowing what you need. Imagine spending $150 and feeling great about the deal you got, but you then realize that this camera is not enough for which you need! Here are some of the things you need to know about in order to choose the right cheap digital camera.

The megapixel tells you only how many megapixels the camera has. The reason camera salesman talk about the megapixel is because it's an easy point of reference to try to upsell you. The reality is that the lens quality and the light sensors make a more significant impact than the megapixels. The thing is, it's hard for a consumer to understand all of the differences between lens quality and light sensors.

The 3.1 mega pixel prints a perfect 8x10, but the new standard is 7-8 mega pixels. Unless you are a pro photographer, then anything over 3.1 is great. Consider a camera in the 6 pixel range. You can get a super price.

The next thing you wanted to is pick the right physical configuration of the camera. How many times have you purchase something with all kinds of bells and whistles, but never learn how to use them, or had a difficult time using them? Be honest with yourself. If you're just a point and shoot kind of person, and keep with the simple camera.

A DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) typically has a larger body and a detachable lens. The DSLR is usually a higher end camera, and has more features and better components. Pro's typically buy a DSLR. For many of you reading this article, the DSLR camera is more camera than you'll ever need.

Point-and-shoot cameras are smaller, the lens is usually attached, and the lens actually retracts back into the camera base. These are the cameras sold at all big box retailers and electronic stores. You can find many in the few hundred dollar range.

The pros with a point and shoot camera. The prices are much cheaper and affordable. Cons-the camera may not be repairable and goes out of date quickly. Usually is cheaper to just replace the camera instead of repairing.

Take a few minutes and think about what your needs are before you buy your cheap digital camera. If you are taking quick pictures for a photo album, then anything on the market from a mega pixel standpoint is fine. If you are taking quick pictures, then a point and shoot should work for you.

Great new digital camera - Nikon Coolpix P90

By Dick Busch

It seems that every month manufacturers are coming up with another new digital camera in their range to entice potential customers After spending sizable amount of time at the mall and online research we finally figuring out which is the best digital camera for us. Eventually saving enough money to buy that eye-popping, 10 megapixel, 10x optical zoom with up to a sixteen gigabyte expandable memory using super hi-speed SD memory card and of course, very compact; which we hope be the envy of almost everyone we know. Can you imagine your surprise when you find that the camera you have researched so diligently and have set your heart on has been usurped from its position of best model with a newer more expensive version.

Unfortunately, technology doesn't ever stop for breath and your personal choice is no exception, so after months of searching you now have to have the latest version of the camera which has taken over the accolade.

Don't worry though if you are not sure what to do; just follow the guide below and you shouldn't go to far wrong. You really need to dismiss any decent model with less than 5 megapixels but I don't think there are many available now.

Although it is not always the case, a good rule of thumb is the more pixels you have the better the image will be when it is printed. If you are someone that likes to print large photos then the more pixels you have, the larger it can be printed out without distortion. LCD screens have over the years become much larger which means you can frame your shot easier and view the result with more ease than ever before. The best digital cameras are able to touch up and edit the images this is an excellent feature to have as standard.

Some of these memory cards may already be familiar to you: the XD, SD, Memory Stick and Compact Flash. Try to obtain the largest memory you can for your camera and your budget. Prices for the large gigabyte cards now are almost the same price as one that was only 64mb only 2 or 3 years ago.

Your life and interests should really be the ideal measuring stick for the type of digital camera you ultimately buy. If you enjoy taking shots with your new toy and use it regularly then that is all you can ask from a camera isn't it?
